Sanhedrin to Purchase Sheep for Passover Sacrifice
(IsraelNN.com) The modern-day Sanhedrin, headed by Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz, has decided to purchase a herd of sheep to be used for the Passover sacrifice ritual to be held this year if possible at the Temple Mount.

The Sanhedrin, which was formed several years ago, meets once a week, according to the Haaretz news service, in what it says is a renewal of the Jewish High Court that existed more than a thousand years ago.

A member of the Sanhedrin, Professor Hillel Weiss, said in an interview that the symbolic Passover sacrifice is intended to remind Jews that the Temple rituals will resume when the Messiah comes.

Sean: What are the facts of the Sanhedrin and the Seventy Nations? You may have written on this already could you post on this? Did you know: John Hyrcanus changed the title of Council of judgment to the Sanhedrin? Sanhedrin being a Macedonian name. Why did he use a Macedonian Title for a Jewish Court?
    regards,

    Segestan,

The Hebrew Sanhedrin is not based upon a Macedonian name or word, nor is it Greek either as some suggest.

Sanhedrin is a purely Hebrew compound word [sin as the 10 Commandments came from God on Holy Mt. Sinai (Jebu Musa), and hadrin meaning glorification] denoting the religious council which came into being after Moses convened a council of 70 elders at the direction of God:

(Numbers 11:16 - The LORD said to Moses: "Bring me seventy of Israel's elders who are known to you as leaders and officials among the people. Have them come to the Tent of Meeting, that they may stand there with you.)

The first Hebrew Sanhedrin convened as above sometime in the decade between 1441 and 1451 BC. This time is at least 1,000 years prior Macedonia.

    Thanks Sean.....

According the Historians History of the World.....The Macedonian name was Synedrion transformed into Hebrew Sanhedrin.
The early name of the Sanhedrin was (Beth-Din) ..House of Judgment. The Court was a body of Scholars.
When existing under the Asmonean and Herod times the court was an plenary court of justice it wasn't until Judea became a Roman Province that this age old court regained it's judicial authority. It would seem the new title was given them after the court's power was reduced by the Greeks or Asmoneans.

    Segestan,

Above I provided the Biblical version of the origin of the Sanhedrin per the account in the Book of Numbers. Given a choice between accepting the Biblical view versus the view held by the secular "Historians History of the World" - as the age-old retort goes, I'll accept the Biblical view everyday of the week and twice on Sunday.

Now with respect to the functioning of the Sanhedrin - which was not originally a part of your question I'll re-emphasize what has already been stated from the Biblical narrative about the purpose of the Sanhedrin and add additional narrative from the Book of Numbers.

This Numbers Chapter 11 narrative is of God speaking to Moses.

16 The LORD said to Moses: "Bring me seventy of Israel's elders who are known to you as leaders and officials among the people. Have them come to the Tent of Meeting, that they may stand there with you. 17 I will come down and speak with you there, and I will take of the Spirit that is on you and put the Spirit on them. They will help you carry the burden of the people so that you will not have to carry it alone.

18 "Tell the people: 'Consecrate yourselves in preparation for tomorrow, when you will eat meat. The LORD heard you when you wailed, "If only we had meat to eat! We were better off in Egypt!" Now the LORD will give you meat, and you will eat it. 19 You will not eat it for just one day, or two days, or five, ten or twenty days, 20 but for a whole month—until it comes out of your nostrils and you loathe it—because you have rejected the LORD, who is among you, and have wailed before him, saying, "Why did we ever leave Egypt?" ' "
24 So Moses went out and told the people what the LORD had said. He brought together seventy of their elders and had them stand around the Tent. 25 Then the LORD came down in the cloud and spoke with him, and he took of the Spirit that was on him and put the Spirit on the seventy elders. When the Spirit rested on them, they prophesied, but they did not do so again.
The above reveals that God originally bestowed the Holy Spirit upon these 70 men, and they prophecied at that time (Prophecy is just one of a number of gifts bestowed upon mankind by the Holy Spirit).

Afterwards, they did not prophecy because the Spirit was removed from them and they only method they had left was to debate the Torah issues before them and decide by a vote.

That is to say, originally God told then what was what. Afterwards they took their best cumulative guess in a vote.

The point is... for the purposes of this thread... specifically as it relates to the Sanhedrin - They're BAA-AACK! Just as they were in ancient times and during the time of the Messiah in the flesh. Regular men, prone to error, misjudgment and unspeakable abominations against God.

    Wars and Rumors of Wars

Submitted by Sean Osborne on Mon, 2007-04-09 15:31.

By Sean Osborne, Associate Director, Military Affairs
April 9, 2007 This is a continuation of “The Iranian Ganglion: A Current Assessment”
(http://www.homelandsecurityus.com/node/936) albeit it is from a perspective of analysis and reflection upon the continuing statements of the former Chief of Staff of the Russian armed forces, Col. Gen. Leonid Grigor'yevich Ivashov referenced earlier. Most readers of the Judeo-Christian faith will recognize the title of this installment as deriving from the prophetic words delivered by Christ during His Sermon on the Mount of Olives. The applicability of these words for our time is striking, if not foreboding, especially when taken in the context of Ezekiel, chapters 38 and 39. Russia and Iran in such close proximity and military alliance is an unmistakable benchmark in an era of world history which has seen the Jews re-gathered into the land of Israel and in control of Jerusalem – as was also foretold in detail.

The comments of this senior Russian career military officer in this context are most disturbing, and a much closer look is warranted. Reportedly, General Ivashov was the Chief-of-Staff of the Russian armed forces when 9/11 occurred. General Ivashov’s biography is that of a consummate, professional, career Russian military officer. Yet, from his mouth propagates the core basis of the ludicrous nonsense coming from the political left and the loony conspiracy theorists, which stands in stark contrast to the military and strategic principles of the Russian Military Doctrine published in April 2000. The propagated nonsense asserts that the events of September 11, 2001 were actions initiated by the United States government, that Islamist terrorism is a non-existent figment of our imagination and every other social, political and economic force in the world is part of a grand scheme, a grand conspiracy of America and her allies to conquer and enslave the world.

At this point some folks might be rolling off their easy chair in laughter. Folks like Cindy Sheehan, Nancy Pelosi and other friend of Hugo, Mahmud and Bashar. If this is you as well, then when you regain control of yourself – consider the following. This Russian general, his senior leadership and their allies really believe these things are truth. This Russian mindset and worldview meshes quite seamlessly with that of the Shi’a apocalyptic views of the Iranian regime. This senior Russian military officer is saying publicly that which manifests how they truly view America, Israel and the West in general. Once again Russia is aligning itself not with the West but with the East, and now with the South, with Islamofascism. The tangible proof of the real Russian agenda is manifest in the ongoing nuclear proliferation and massive arms sales to the Islamic Republic of Iran and their socialist Alawite Shi’a allies in Syria. Russia has joined the Axis of Evil by any measure applied. Rus sia has aligned itself with those who seek to destroy our way of life. We had better take notice because while Iran is pursuing nuclear weapons, Russia already has them in the thousands. Those Russian weapons are now the effective global strategic depth of Iran and Syria. Nancy Pelosi, did you hear what I just said?

General Ivashov has expounded upon his comments which I reported on in the article linked above. He was quoted by the Russian Interfax news agency yesterday saying that not only are US plans to attack Iran still on track for this month, but that our strike will include a nuclear first strike upon Iran. Citing “our data” - which can only mean Russian government intelligence assessments – General Ivashov said “Combat nuclear weapons may be used for bombing. This will result in radioactive contamination of the Iranian territory, which could possibly spread to neighboring countries. Do you hear that? This Russian government mouthpiece has said that America intends to launch Armageddon. General Ivashov continued, “If Iran strikes back at Israel with missiles, Tel-Aviv is likely to use nuclear weapons on Iran.”

    Source: http://www.interfax.ru/e/B/0/28.html?id_issue=11708925

If this is not a Russian government sanctioning of an Iranian or even a Russian-Iranian-Syrian preemptive strike upon America, Israel and our Western allies, then I do not know what is. I do know that the existential danger we face today is as great as anytime since the Cuban Missile crisis, perhaps all the more so.

I am beginning to sense that we as a nation, along with our allies, are being led down a path without an escape route. Propaganda, now commonplace, shows us to be the aggressor. Our own media with its political cohorts, issue the same sort of divisive, ill-placed rhetoric. No matter how we defend ourselves and our interests as a nation, we are being globally demonized. No good can come of this.

As it relates to Biblical prophesy, a much larger agenda is in place and reveals itself according to scripture in God's time.

Of this I have no doubt at all.

I referenced the Olivet Discourse in the above. All of the signs given by Christ are evident today. All of them, simultaneously and in diverse places around the globe. Earthquakes, wars and rumors of wars (as well as the specific naming of the nations involved in them), pestilences ... all occuring with ever increasing frequency and severity. The unprecedented simultaneousness of these events is the key of keys to discerning what time it is; what generation Christ was speaking of.

And the secular world continues to sleep in its disbelieving certainty, also as foretold.

Right and wrong, good and evil, just and unjust have all been turned upside down - a pole shift, if you will, has occured also just as Bible prophecy has foretold would occur.

Notice the technology and the time that is implied in Jesus' warning:

And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.
    -
    Matthew 24:22

Mankind in all of his wars has never had the capability to destroy all flesh on planet earth - until the advent of our generation.

    Bible Prophecy facts:

25% of all text in the Holy Bible is exclusively prophetic; or one out of every four verses.

In the New Testament alone there are 318 prophetic verses concerning the Second Coming of Christ. Second to that in frequency of mention is the subject of salvation.

The express purpose of prophecy is to announce the specific conditions and geo-political situation on earth just prior to the return of Christ and the establishment of His kingdom upon the earth.

Moreover, not much of prophecy is NOT new, the vast majority has a pre-existing template already within the Biblical historical record.

The Ark of Noah is a template for the "Rapture" of the Bride of Christ, as is the Jewish betrothal tradition. Jesus specifically mentioned both of these templates.

    Remember,
Luke 17:26: "Just as it was in the days of Noah, so also will it be in the days of the Son of Man."

The Jewish engagement or betrothal is the most striking template as it is the most specifically descriptive of this event. Except for the actual Second Coming at the climax of Armageddon, the "rapture", or "catching away" is the most significant prophetic event to come. They are, to be perfectly clear, two separate, distinct events isolated from each other by approximately 7 years of literal time. (Daniels 70th Week)

So why is it that many Christians avoid the subject altogether, particularly in these "last days"?

The Rapture and the Second Coming prophecies are important - strike that - are extremely important tools in the the witnessing to the unsaved, these events speak to the imminency of the "latter days" and THIS generation.

Well... the wars and rumors of wars continues, even picking up some pace.

I began this thread with several posts about Isaiah 17 - a prophecy about a massive war between Israel and Syria (and the West Bank/Gaza terrorists). The current real-world situation - as reported in almost all major media of late - is about to pop in a literal fulfillment of Isaiah 17. Talk about the concept of "imminency"... WOW!

In surfing around prophecy websites I found a pretty cool slide show on what is coming... I think you'll like this. Click this link and watch.

    http://www.trumpetsounds.com/syriamaps.html

That slide show got me to explore the rest of the website. That's where I found the following. Really good work.

    Prophetic Events

The Bible contains a great amount of unfulfilled prophecy. Much of it deals with God's redemptive plan for Israel in the period in which we now live. The following interpretations are proposed for your prayerful consideration, not as dogma. Search the Scriptures yourself with the direction of the Holy Spirit.
    1. The coastal population centers of Israel, as well as the Golan Heights, will be hit badly by some kind of enemy attack, presumably from Hezbollah and Syria. (Isaiah 33) In response, Damascus, and perhaps Amman will be wiped out. (Isaiah 17, Jeremiah 49, Zechariah 9)

    Now Will I Arise
    Damascus Annihilated

    2. The Palestinians will "melt away" from Judea and Samaria in a time of war, leaving it open for Jewish resettlement in a large scale. (Isaiah 14, Ezekiel 35-36)

    They Arrogated My Land
    I Will Celebrate Your Terror
    Commentary On Obadiah

    3. The east bank of the Jordan River in what is today Jordan will be reclaimed by Israel, with many refugees fleeing the area. (Jeremiah 48-49, Isaiah 15-16)

    Controversy Over The East Bank
    The Humiliation of Impotent Allah

    4. South Lebanon will be also taken by Israel, presumably in the same war, opening it up for Jews around the world to settle in when they make aliyah. (Zechariah 10:10-11:1)

    Lebanon in Prophecy (audio)

    5. The United States will suffer a great calamity just as the Middle East "peace process" is about to come to fruition.

Is Isaiah 18 about the United States?

The exegesis in #5 above is something I've looked at before, but not nearly in the detail done by Bob Westbrook.

I'll present the summary as distinct sentences. Sentence two is the "American Hiroshima".

I concur with the authors postulation that the current plan for a two-state solution could bring about judgement upon the US for our role in trying to give away to the sons of Ishmael the land that God gave to Jacob.

This prophecy may be speaking of the US, in conjunction with actions taken that will result in an Israeli victory over the Palestinians.

As the process to create a Palestinian state appears to be approaching consummation, God takes forceful action to thwart it. Something that for all appearances is a nuclear attack hits the US.

This great calamity upon the "land of whirring wings" puts an end to the process.. But afterwards, Christians and Jews in the US will bring gifts to the Temple Mount for the rebuilding of the Temple.

    The exegesis in full...

Is Isaiah 18 About The US?
    By Bob Westbrook

    Revised April 19, 2005

I've been asked more than once if there is any mention of the United States in the prophetic writings of the Bible. While I cannot be certain of this, I believe that a strong circumstantial case can be made that Isaiah 18 is describing the US. I have heard others indicate this as well, and have long had an suspicion that they may be correct. It is only recently that I have examined this short chapter of seven verses in detail.

The broader context of Isaiah 14-17 contains some scenes that may take place in the relatively near future, and the following chapter 19 also contains prophecies not yet fulfilled. Given this context, and the indication that chapter 18 has never been historically fulfilled in any significant manner, I believe Isaiah 18 warrants some serious consideration, especially if it is indeed speaking of the United States.
This chapter is strangely compelling to me, and the Spirit has put a heaviness in my heart concerning it. It is a message of woe to the nation it addresses, but also describes a very favorable role for them in the final verse.

The identification of the nation in this chapter is found in verses 1, 2, and 7, and contains a number of detailed specifications. (Several different Bible translations will be used here). As we examine the specifics, it will become clear that no modern nation fits the description as closely as does the United States, and no ancient nation fulfilled the prophecy.
First, it is a nation of "whirring wings", "where the sound of wings is heard", or the "land of clamorous wings". Given that the military prominence of this nation figures largely later on, we might assume that this is a reference to the sounds of jets and helicopters. No other nation has the fearsome air power of the US.

Next, it is a nation that "lies beyond the rivers of Cush". This is an area that roughly corresponds to Sudan in Africa. But notice it does not say it is Cush itself, but beyond there. Obviously, in those days, central northern Africa would have seemed like the ends of the earth. So if Isaiah were trying to convey the idea of a land far, far away from where he was, wouldn't he probably say it's beyond the farthest area with which he was familiar? Therefore, this prophecy is not about Ethiopia or Sudan or that region, but a nation beyond there.

This nation in question "sends envoys (ambassadors) over the sea" , "shipping emissaries all over the world". What nation is currently known for sending envoys overseas? The United States. With what political situation are the US diplomats and envoys most involved to an extraordinary degree? It is the Middle East conflict. This corresponds to some crucial details later on in the chapter.

Also, "envoys over the sea" is another indicator that the prophet was not speaking of an area in central Africa, which does not have access to oceans.
To further qualify the nation being addressed, Isaiah then describes its people, its geography, and its power. The people are described as tall and smooth-skinned. Handsome and bronzed are words used in other translations. What image do other parts of the world have of the appearance of Americans, especially from American TV shows piped all over the world? Tall, attractive, smoothed-skinned people. The geography of the land these people live in is "a land divided by rivers". That also describes the US.

Finally, the military and political might of the nation to which Isaiah is prophesying are described. "A people inspiring awe through out their history", "a nation that inspired awe since it came into being", "a strong nation, crushing down its haters", "feared all over the world", "a mighty and masterful nation," "strong and victorious" -- could these be describing the world's sole superpower?

But to me, the clincher regarding the identification of this nation is found in verse 7, the final verse of the chapter.

"At that time gifts will be brought to the LORD of hosts from a people tall and smooth, from a people feared near and far, a nation mighty and conquering, whose land the rivers divide, to Mount Zion, the place of the name of the LORD of hosts." (Isaiah 18:7 RSV)

After the events described in Isaiah 18 transpire, the people of this nation (presumably US Christians and Jews) will be noted for the gifts they bring to "the place of the name". This is, of course, the Temple Mount in Jerusalem. One can assume these gifts are not designated for the Islamic structures that currently stand there, but for the rebuilding of the Temple after the Dome of the Rock and Al Aqsa mosque are obliterated. And what nation is better prepared, equipped, and motivated to send monetary gifts and supplies to Mount Zion for rebuilding the Temple than the United States?

Given this strong circumstantial case, we can conclude that no other nation, ancient or modern, fits the description as closely as the United States. But this prophecy is a message of disaster for that nation. The first word of the chapter is "woe".

A bit of irony is expressed here as well. While saying that this country sends messengers all over the world, Isaiah is telling them "go home, messengers, and give this message of disaster to the country itself".

"Go back quickly, O representatives, to a nation tall and smooth, to a people causing fear through all their history; a strong nation, crushing down its haters, whose land is cut through by rivers." (Isaiah 18:2 BBE).

So the messengers are to take a message to that country. But the next verses seem somewhat out of place at first. Perhaps they are there to give us some historical context of when this prophecy will be fulfilled. Whenever it is, globally important events will be taking place:

"All you people of the world, you who live on the earth, when a banner is raised on the mountains, you will see it, and when a trumpet sounds, you will hear it." (Isaiah 18:3 NIV)

We can surmise that the mountains are the mountains of Israel (the West Bank) and the banner is an Israeli flag. The shofar is blown during battle. Therefore, it is likely whatever is happening to the nation described in this chapter is happening in conjunction with Israel retaking Biblical Judea and Samaria back as their own possession, through a military operation. This would happen once the Palestinians are vanquished and that land becomes part of Israel formally. So, God is telling the world, "when that happens, pay attention."
The nation that is the primary subject of this chapter, presumably the United States, is at the forefront of the process to create a Palestinian state. We are assured by the prophetic Scriptures that ancestral heartland of Israel, which is the object of contention today, will one day fully belong to Israel, in spite of the world's efforts to seize it. So verse 3 has a defiant tone to it, addressed at the entire world, that God's intentions for that land will be accomplished. Israel's banner will be raised on the mountains of Israel, visible to all.

As we shall see in verse 5, the efforts by others to seize that land will appear to be succeeding for awhile, but just as they is about to come to fruition, God will take dramatic action to put a stop to them.
This is the point where we might begin to get a little nervous, because if this chapter is talking about the US, and if the time of fulfillment is soon, the next verses do not bode well at all.

"This is what the LORD says to me: "I will remain quiet and will look on from my dwelling place, like shimmering heat in the sunshine, like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest."" (Isaiah 18:4 NIV)

Something spectacular is going to happen, we presume, because the Lord says that he's just going to sit and watch quietly when it does, giving the appearance of doing nothing about it. The next phrases, I'm sorry to say, sound very much like a description of nuclear explosions. Looking at the Hebrew words used, they seem similar to how someone in those days might have described a nuclear blast: dazzling, shimmering, white heat, a thick cloud. What happens to dew in the heat of a late summer day? It dissipates rapidly when hit by the radiation of the sun.
Is this describing some kind of traumatic event which will effectively put a halt to the so-called "peace process"? Another translation of that verse provides a different view of one aspect of God's intentions. "I will look after My Place of Foundation." (Stone Edition Tanach) As God plants His banner and sounds His shofar to confirm His designation of the entire land of Israel to the people of Israel, He takes special care to look after the Temple Mount. Though the world powers, in conjunction with Islam, attempt to keep their grip on the place God founded as the place for His name to dwell forever, they will not succeed.
The JPS translation of verse 4 ends, "like a rain cloud in the heat of reaping time." The notes of the JPS Bible explain "i.e. like a threat of disaster". During the harvest period, it is the threat of rain that can turn that process into a failure. That use of the word harvest leads us to the next verse, where the harvest which be aborted is presumably the "land for peace" efforts, propelled by the US, to form a Palestinian state.

For, before the harvest, when the blossom is gone and the flower becomes a ripening grape, he will cut off the shoots with pruning knives, and cut down and take away the spreading branches. (Isaiah 18:5 NIV)

Just before the harvest, just before the process is consummated, God lops off the branches ripe with fruit. If we link this back to the proclamation to the whole world back in verse 3, we deduce the attempts to create a Palestinian state will be approaching ripeness when God severs them. He does this by bringing the "woes" pronounced on the nation that is the object of this prophecy, presumably the United States. The spreading branches he will hew away are the contrivances of the Palestinian Authority to spread into Israel's land.

(Isaiah 18:6 NIV) They will all be left to the mountain birds of prey and to the wild animals; the birds will feed on them all summer, the wild animals all winter.

After God takes the conclusive, forceful action to terminate the process about to come to fruition, the numerous carcasses of those God has cut down will be devoured by the carrion animals for an extended period.
Even so, the chapter ends on a very positive note, as we mentioned earlier. Could it be that whatever events take place here are also simultaneous to the liberation of the Temple Mount in Jerusalem? Verse 7 seems to imply that.

(Isaiah 18:7 NIV) At that time gifts will be brought to the LORD Almighty from a people tall and smooth-skinned, from a people feared far and wide, an aggressive nation of strange speech, whose land is divided by rivers-- the gifts will be brought to Mount Zion, the place of the Name of the LORD Almighty.

The nation that is the focus of this prophecy, once again identified here, will finally play a role of blessing to Israel. That nation will be singled out as the primary contributor of gifts designated for the Temple. Let's tie it all together in a what is sure to be a controversial proposition: This prophecy may be speaking of the US, in conjunction with actions taken that will result in an Israeli victory over the Palestinians.

    Isaiah 18

    A Prophecy Against Cush

1 Woe to the land of whirring wings [a]
along the rivers of Cush, [b]

2 which sends envoys by sea
in papyrus boats over the water.
    Go, swift messengers,
to a people tall and smooth-skinned,
to a people feared far and wide,
an aggressive nation of strange speech,
whose land is divided by rivers.
3 All you people of the world,
you who live on the earth,
when a banner is raised on the mountains,
    you will see it,
    and when a trumpet sounds,
    you will hear it.
4 This is what the LORD says to me:
"I will remain quiet and will look on from my dwelling place,
like shimmering heat in the sunshine,
like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest."
5 For, before the harvest, when the blossom is gone
and the flower becomes a ripening grape,
he will cut off the shoots with pruning knives,
and cut down and take away the spreading branches.
6 They will all be left to the mountain birds of prey
    and to the wild animals;
the birds will feed on them all summer,
the wild animals all winter. 7 At that time gifts will be brought to the LORD Almighty
from a people tall and smooth-skinned,
from a people feared far and wide,
an aggressive nation of strange speech,
whose land is divided by rivers—
the gifts will be brought to Mount Zion, the place of the Name of the LORD Almighty.

Default Re: Current Events and Biblical Prophecy II

Again, I'm revisiting Isaiah 17. I originally posted this back in December 2005. My commentary is the ((yellow)) text.

Directly below this revisitation of Isaiah 17 is a Monday, April 30, 2007 Israeli report about the Syrian "rocket city".

I strongly suspect this Syrian rocket fortification will play a very large role in the events described by isaiah. The 2,700-year old prophecy from Isaiah is coming to a very literal fulfillment.

    Isaiah 17
    An Oracle Against Damascus
    1 An oracle concerning Damascus:

"See, Damascus will no longer be a city

but will become a heap of ruins.

((the above speaks of explosive force which destroys the entire city))

2 The cities of Aroer will be deserted

and left to flocks, which will lie down,

with no one to make them afraid.

3 The fortified city will disappear from Ephraim, ((Tel Aviv))

    and royal power from Damascus;

the remnant of Aram will be

like the glory of the Israelites,"

    declares the LORD Almighty.

    4 "In that day the glory of Jacob will fade;

the fat of his body will waste away.

5 It will be as when a reaper gathers the standing grain

and harvests the grain with his arm-

as when a man gleans heads of grain

    in the Valley of Rephaim.

((this speaks of an area in the West Bank and Israel proper as we currently know it. Significant loss of life- both Israeli [the glory of Jacob]and Palestinian [the Rephaim].))

6 Yet some gleanings will remain,

as when an olive tree is beaten,

leaving two or three olives on the topmost branches,

four or five on the fruitful boughs,"

declares the LORD , the God of Israel.

((the olive tree is always used as a symbol for Israel.))

7 In that day men will look to their Maker

and turn their eyes to the Holy One of Israel.

8 They will not look to the altars,

    the work of their hands,

and they will have no regard for the Asherah poles [a]

and the incense altars their fingers have made.

9 In that day their strong cities, which they left because of the Israelites, will be like places abandoned to thickets and undergrowth. And all will be desolation.

    ((Nuclear warfare.))

    10 You have forgotten God your Savior;

you have not remembered the Rock, your fortress.

Therefore, though you set out the finest plants

    and plant imported vines,

11 though on the day you set them out, you make them grow,

and on the morning when you plant them, you bring them to bud,

yet the harvest will be as nothing

in the day of disease and incurable pain.

((a chastisement comes upon Israel in the form of biological or chemical warfare [disease and incurable pain], but as stated above Israel survives where "gleanings remain" because not all of them have not forgotten God their Savior.))

12 Oh, the raging of many nations-

they rage like the raging sea!

Oh, the uproar of the peoples-

they roar like the roaring of great waters!

13 Although the peoples roar like the roar of surging waters,

when he rebukes them they flee far away,

driven before the wind like chaff on the hills,

    like tumbleweed before a gale.

14 In the evening, sudden terror!

Before the morning, they are gone!

This is the portion of those who loot us,

the lot of those who plunder us.

((the initial attack on Israel occurs in the evening, the bio-chem agents blown by prevailing winds from Tel Aviv inland all the way into Jordan [Aroer]. Before the morning Israel has retaliated and Damascus is no more.))

Foreign experts: Syria secretly built 30 underground bunkers to enable rocket attack before IAF can destroy them

Foreign experts: Syria secretly built 30 underground bunkers to enable
rocket attack before IAF can destroy them

Dr. Aaron Lerner Date: 30 April, 2007

Yediot Ahronot correspondent Arieh Egozi reports in today's edition [page 9] that foreign experts say Syria has built a huge underground compound that includes 30 steel reinforced concrete bunkers, production facilities,
development labs and command posts. This new "rocket city" has missiles that can cover the entire area of Israel.

In contrast to mobile deployment systems that are easy prey to air attacks, the bunker system is designed to enable Syria to launch many missiles against Israel before the IAF can take them out.

Syria has some 200 Scud B, 60 Scud C and an unknown quantity of North Korean made 700 kilometer range Scud D's. According to Egozi last February Israeli surveillance noted a Syrian launching of an improved Scud that is more accurate, can cause greater damage and is more difficult to intercept, terming it "a reason for great concern." According to foreign experts, the chemical weapons heads for the rockets are
    stored in another location.

According to Israeli sources, Egozi reports, Syria recently received 100
C802 Chinese anti-ship cruise missiles from Iran.

Anyone following this thread will immediately recognize the significance of the following report. According to Bible prophecy and despite ALL apparent real-world obstacles -- the Temple will be rebuilt on Temple Mount. - exactly as prophecied by the Old Testament prophets and referenced by Jesus Christ in the Olivet Discourse. Around the world the effect of this effort by the Sanhedrin will be to energize Christians and Jews like nothing ever witnessed over the past 2,000 years. Radical Islam is about to discover an equally or more fervent power in oppostion.

    http://www.ynetnews.com/articles/0,7...394231,00.html

    The Sanhedrin’s peace initiative

Jewish group devoted to rebuilding Temple in Jerusalem to send letters to all world leaders, including Arab ones, inviting them to take part in project, attend conference on Temple Mount in Israel Kobi Nahshoni
    Published: 05.01.07, 20:48 / Israel Jewish Scene

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who has been gearing up for an Israeli offensive in recent months, is bound to be surprised by the peace feelers he is set to receive from Jerusalem soon.

    Animal Sacrifice
'Renew animal sacrifices on Mount' says radical rabbi / Yaakov Lappin
Member of Sanhedrin says sacrifices 'were not possible when the people of Israel were in the Diaspora, but now they are.' Adds: Jerusalem Temple should be rebuilt, Israeli government standing in our way
    Full Story

Without Saudi mediation or diplomatic procedures, the president will get a “Letter of Love and Peace”, accompanied by a historic invitation to visit Jerusalem, from The Supreme Judicial Court of the Jewish People, better known as the Sanhedrin.

After having tried their luck with the High Court of Justice and the government, the members of the Jewish group have set out on a new track in their struggle for the Temple Mount, aimed at rebuilding the Temple in the Jewish capital.

In recent days, the group members have drafted a letter that will be translated into 70 languages and sent to all government institutions in the world, including “the sons of Esau and Ishmael” who do not hold diplomatic ties with Israel.

    Jews responsible for world peace
In the letter, the rabbis of the self-proclaimed Sanhedrin warn that the world is nearing a catastrophe, and write that the only way to bring peace among nations, states, and religions is by building a house for God, where Jews will worship, pray and offer up sacrifice, according to the vision of the prophets.

The rabbis also call on the non-Jews to help the people of Israel fulfill their destiny and build the Temple, in order to prevent bloodshed across the globe.

The letter will initially be translated into English, Spanish, Arabic, French and Farsi, and later also into Russian, Chinese and Japanese, and will include an invitation to world leaders to attend a conference dedicated to the Temple Mount in Jerusalem five months from now, during Succot.

Prof Hillel Weiss of the Sanhedrin explained that the Torah and the prophets have tasked the Jewish people with the responsibility for world peace. He stressed that the group’s project was to rebuild the Temple, not a “church for all nations,” but added, “We have all descended from the same father, this is not another primitive and racist approach.”

Default Re: Current Events and Biblical Prophecy II

It's about time that the "Climate Change" issue was addressed in this forum.

I did so in the "Skeptics' Corner" forum when I began the "Global Warming Hoax - World Greatest Scam" thread in April of 2006.

The 'hoax' is the political Left's ( god-less world socialism and communism and all the whacko ism's they've spawned in the decades since the end of WWII ) insistence that the warming of the earth is due to the effects and activities of mankind on the interrelated systems of planet earth.

That's one large hoax, and it is based upon the fact that the masses of people it is intended to decieve would not be able to discern the various truths of its existence - to know them for what they truly are, and from whence they come.

However, due to the secular nature of that forum and its threads, I did not get to the bottom line.

Gonna remedy that with this post.

"Global Warming" is a fact. In fact the fact is the entire solar system is warming and has been for some time. It has been a rapid enough of a process that human science noticed it; our technology has progressed to the point where we we've noticed distinct changes of the little we know of the different planets of our galactic neighborhood. We don't fully understand these processes at work, but see it as something to do with solar activity, or perhaps interstellar activity we do not yet comprehend.

It's a manifestation of a prophecy Jesus gave to us about the signs of this age, something this specific generation would live to see in direct relation to the other signs He told us would occur with ever increasing frequency and magnitude.

Let's she what the Lord had to say about these things.

The Pharisees and Sadducees came to Jesus and tested him by asking him to show them a sign from heaven.

He replied, "When evening comes, you say, `It will be fair weather, for the sky is red,' and in the morning, `Today it will be stormy, for the sky is red and overcast.'

You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times. A wicked and adulterous generation looks for a miraculous sign, but none will be given it except the sign of Jonah."

Jesus then left them and went away.

    Matthew 16: 1-4

The wicked and adulterous generation cannot see "the signs of the times" for what they truly are because they are SPIRITUALLY BLIND.

That statement from the Lord concerns ALL of the signs He gave to know the season of His return - NOT THE DAY OR THE HOUR of His return.

The 'global warming aspect is actually two specifc items - the failing ecosystems of this earth which are directly related to and dependent upon changes in global weather patterns.

Humanity had no clue about these thing until we placed weather satellites in orbit with camera and other technologies with which to observe and record data. Some data but by no means all the data. Years passed and our satellites and scientific probes ventured deeper into our solar neighborhood, and more data was accumulated, but still we do not see the whole picture from a scientific point-of-view, we have good indicators, but not the full-scale of what is occuring. Yet this is enough to place the hoaxers in their place and identify them for the frauds that they are.

We also have through the Word of God insight to what is coming, where all this leads to next.

But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days.
    2 Timothy 3:1

Humanity is being warned by our Creator God. According to His Word many millions will ignore these warning and will not turn to Him for their salvation are the entire planet heaves and convulses with earthquakes and evermore dreadful calamities that we see transpire with our own eyes - all occuring simultaneously with war, diseases, famines, lawlessness, persecutions based upon hatreds, nation against nation, ethnic group against ethnic group...

And none of this is yet the final series of main events marking the end of the age of man and the Beginning of the age where God will rule the earth, The King of Kings sitting on His throne in Jerusalem, restoring the earth to its former glory and a thousand years of unprecidented peace.

So be mindful of the words the Lord placed in the heart of the disciple Luke:

There will be signs in the sun, moon and stars. On the earth, nations will be in anguish and perplexity at the roaring and tossing of the sea. Men will faint from terror, apprehensive of what is coming on the world, for the heavenly bodies will be shaken.

    Luke 21: 25-26

He's told us plain as day and point blank in that what occurs on this earth has origins outside of this earth, the heavenly bodies WILL BE shaken and the signs of their shaking will be seen in the signs we can now observe directly in "THE SUN, MOON and STARS."

    Trust Him.

    Turn to Him.

Become faithful and true as was Noah before the Flood.

Default Re: Current Events and Biblical Prophecy II

This coming Sunday, June 3rd, I will finally be able to meet Joel Rosenberg at Calvary Chapel, Old Bridge, NJ. This will truly and most assuredly be a highlight for Summer 2007.

As those who read this thread know, I've been posting Joel's updates, as well as highlighting his books, particularly "The Ezekiel Option" and most recently "Epicenter".

Well, this weekend along with meeting Joel and having him sign my hardcopy of "Epicenter" there will also be a nationwide event with the DVD documentary release of "Epicenter."

Here's one of the online announcements on this event, which was timed to coincide with the 40th annivesary of the Six Day War of June 1967.

    http://www.earnedmedia.org/brpr0507.htm

Rosenberg's 'Epicenter' Becomes Documentary Film on DVD

    Contact: Beverly Rykerd, 719-481-0537

CAROL STREAM, Ill., May 7 /Christian Newswire/ -- With all eyes currently on Israel, New York Times best-selling author Joel C. Rosenberg, Solomon Productions and Tyndale House Publishers have turned Rosenberg's best-selling non-fiction book, "Epicenter: Why The Current Rumblings In The Middle East Will Change Your Future," into a powerful new documentary film to be released on DVD on June 5, 2007.

The launch of "Epicenter" will be supported by a two-hour live radio special on June 3 followed by a weekend special on June 9 and 10 on Christian radio stations nationwide, just in time for the 40th anniversary of Israel's Six Day War.

Shot in high definition video in locations from Jerusalem to Washington, DC, "Epicenter" brings current events in the Middle East and their potential implications into stark focus. The one-hour documentary is hosted by bestselling author Joel Rosenberg and Pastor Skip Heitzig, of Calvary Chapel Albuquerque.

Perfect for use in church, small group, and book club settings, the DVD documentary includes exclusive interviews with:

    • Benjamin Netanyahu, former prime minister of Israel
    • Natan Sharansky, former Israeli deputy prime minister
    • Pastor Chuck Smith, senior pastor Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa
    • Iranian Shiite converts to Christianity
"We were certainly blindsided by 9/11," says Rosenberg. "The question is: Are we going to be blindsided by events that are coming?"

Incorporating history, Biblical prophecy and current political affairs, Rosenberg and his guests provide clarity about the impending threats facing Israel and the West, zeroing in on such critical issues as:

    • The emerging alliance between Russia and Iran
    • Iranian President Ahmadinejad's belief in the Islamic Messiah and foreign policy
    • The power struggle between Muslims and Jews over the Temple Mount
    • Radical Islam's determination to wage a winner-take-all global jihad
    • The record number of Muslims coming to Christ, particularly in Iran
The "Epicenter" DVD also includes two hours of bonus footage and interviews that will inspire viewers to examine the news in a whole new light.

I plan to do a special post on this live event !

By the way, there's a $6.00 discount on the retail $19.99 price for this DVD version of 'Epicenter' available. Once I determine from Ryan whether or not my posting of the link here would constitutute "spam" I will advise further on how some might obtain this discounted price.

Sean, in your following quote, I understand that you're saying the political left perpetuates the 'global warming hoax', and that the people the hoax is intended to fool are not able to see through the lies, and see the real reason of 'global warming.'

But...to continue the thought, are you also saying the political left understands that the warming of the planet has...well...Biblical implications?

Is it possible the political left is being manipulated by [insert evil entity here]?

Also, to what end would the political left perpetuate such a hoax?

    I find this very interesting...

I've kept track of this over the years, and I've often wondered about the 'why.'

There's a certain 100 mile or so radius in a state in the U.S. that a few of us here are familiar with. I still have family there, and what I've noticed is the increasing lack of snow each year.

Back in the mid-70s, I would be shoveling LOTS of snow by Thanksgiving. These days, Thanksgivings are without snow, and Christmas' sometimes have snow.

    There's gotta be a reason.

Yes, they do, particularly the Reverend Al Gore. I think you've heard him "preach" this hoax, among other things. Al Gore accused George W. Bush of doing exactly what Al Gore has consistenly done with this topic. It was either Sean Hannity or Rush Limbaugh, or both, who've repeatedly played the audio sound bite of Al Gore, cranked-up with his best southern "preaching" voice ...
HE PLAYED ON OUR FEARS !!!
Oh yeah, same difference and case closed.

Is it possible the political left is being manipulated by [insert evil entity here]?
Yeah, god-less commies tell 'em what to say. And they get their marching orders directly from [inserted evil entity]. In a word, this is best described as DECEPTION.

We just gotta do what we can, tell 'em the truth, because as we all know, the Truth will set 'em free.

Also, to what end would the political left perpetuate such a hoax?
For the same reason the left will do or say virtually anything... to gain political power for themselves and their toadies and lackey's. That's it... it's ALL about the ultimate achievement of absolute political power.

Well, that certainly does ascribe a much greater degree of ruthlessness to the Dems/Libs than I previously had imagined.

I’m gonna ‘chew’ on that political relationship a bit.

As far as Global Warming actually having Biblical implications - sure sounds plausible, and appears to be supported by Scripture. Any further reading you suggest will be welcomed, and I’ll also search for items myself.

Hope you have a good time meeting Joel Rosenberg.

I just pre-ordered his DVD through Barnes & Nobles - cost was $13.99 using my B&N membership - $17.93 including shipping/tax. Guess I’m just impatient.

    Thanks Sean.
