Chat Room Now Open!
Great News!
Our chat room is now up and running!
In order to use it, it requires you to register and create a profile much like this message board software.
To get to the chat room, just click on the "Chat" button at the top of your screen (If you don't see a "Chat" button, just go to the Trans-Asian Axis homepage.).

Dang it, always some sort of bug...
I assume you are only seeing some sort of login box but no registration link?
I may have to try reinstalling the chat software and seeing if that works.
I hope the board upgrade goes more smoothly than the chat install...

Okay, the message board has been set up more as a "free chat" chat room meaning that you do not need to create a user profile to chat.
So, there should be no more problems with registration.
Just enter the screen name you wish to use and click "Login"!

Need to set it up in the site colors. Its actually a pretty good chat program. We use it over at the Well Rats site.

Yes, I set it up for the closest color match I could find quickly. But, I will get the colors even more closely matched ASAP.

Okay, the default colors should now match the rest of the site fairly closely.

Just need to add "Chat" to the default selectuion at the top now, where it says USER CP, FAQ etc.

I think I will try to do that but, I figured that visitors coming to the message board are coming through the main page at which time they will see the link bar for the entire site (home, faq, message board, featured articles, etc) at the top. Thus, they will already have a "Chat" link at the top of their screens.

The chat room looks good. Any way we can change the graphics for the background there? We could set the transparency down some in order to make it non-obtrusive and still keep it in theme.
BTW... The quick response box in the forums is giving me fits. I'm having to post everything through the reply button. Is it just my end?

I am having probs with all reply forms since about noon EST today. html code is popping up all over the place, current page jumps around and other weirdness.Originally Posted by Brian Baldwin

I hadn't noticed any background graphics in the chat. I will try to take that off.
Also, when I updated the board software, I believe it defaulted some of the board settings. And, I believe one of those settings is the quick reply boxes not being active unless a user clicks on the quick reply button in the post they wish to respond to. I will try to get those settings restored to what they were previously.

Around noon was when I updated the board software from 3.0.7 to 3.5.1
Don't know if you have tried it or not but completely clear your cache, your temporary internet files, and your cookies.
You are likely getting conflicts between cached versions of the board software and the updated version.
I too had problems where none of the WYSIWYG editor functions were working. I ended up clearing out all of the items I previously mentioned and everything returned to normal.
If clearing out all the above doesn't work, post some screen shots (or e-mail them to me) so I can see what is going on on your end.

Just checked the chat room and did not see any graphics.
Perhaps you are seeing a cached version of the room. Try clearing out all temporary internet files, cache, and cookies.
If you do that and are still seeing a graphic, post a screen shot here or e-mail it to me.

After doing some looking around in the template variables, I'm not sure I will be able to modify the navbar at the top of the forum to include a "Chat" link.
I know it can be done because AK-47.net's forum navbar is heavily modified but, I have no idea how to do it myself.
If anyone reading this has any input on how to modify the navbar, feel free to chime in and let me know. I would add a "Chat" link up top if I could.

I'm actually working on the chat room as we "speak".
I've upgraded to the latest stable version 4.4.2 and am integrating it with the message board software.
Unfortunately, we cannot have a bot with the chat software. There seems to be some sort of MySQL error when the chatbot tries to install and the installation just times out. This is entirely on our hosting service's end. Oh well…
Also, since I am now integrating the chat software with the board, I have the process to put a link to the chat software in the message board navbar. So no problem there!
Hopefully I can get everything ironed out shortly. I have the chat software installed and working but, I am having some problems with logins and such. It was working at first then started acting funny. That's what I am trying to take care of now.

Okay… I think I have all the bugs worked out.
I'd like everyone to try to login to the chat room. You should be able to use either the "Chat" button in the top frame of your browser or the "FlashChat" option in the navbar at the top of the message board.
If you are presented with a dialog box asking for username and password, use the same username and password that you use for the message board.
Also, let me know if the color scheme doesn't match the rest of the site (you may have to clear out your cache to display properly).
