    Default Firefox Australis

Just upgraded to FF29, aka Firefox Australis.

Wow, did they take away a lot of customization with this release! The one thing that attracts most users to FF.

Fortunately there is an extension out there that restores it and gives you a little more - Classic Theme Restorer.

If you're in the same boat as me, I definitely recommend that add-on.

I will give them, this newest version does seem to be quicker than the last couple releases but trying to lock it down the way they did is just stupid.

Why is firefox better than google chrome? ...and what's the deal with the "lockdown" as if any browser can be "secure"?

Well, Google is an information gathering company and has reputation for watching where their users are going and what they're doing. Stands to reason they'd do the same thing with their browser.

With the "lockdown" portion of FF29, it is mostly with customization and not allowing people to move things like the address bar or having text labels on buttons if you want. Things like that. Though I'm sure there have been some security upgrades as well to go along with the update.

Google Chrome if I recall, is refusing now to allow the "Do not track me" feature to work. Might have that wrong, I skimmed the news last week and saw something on it.

You know what irks the hell out of me...you have a 3 minute video on you tube and you get a 30 second commercial.

granted, you can usually skip it after 5 seconds, but where is the parity?

At least on TV, you get a solid 17 minutes of programming per half hour. That's like a 60/40 ratio.

Oh, wait, sorry, the web is better. Never mind.
